A very broad medical speciality...
Plastic surgery is a broad medical speciality that encompasses both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.
Cosmetic surgery (or aesthetic surgery) is typically performed to reshape normal structures of the body in order to improve the patient’s appearance and self-esteem. The purpose is either Beautyfication or rejuvenation or both. Cosmetic surgery is usually not covered by health insurance because it is elective.
Reconstructive surgery is performed on abnormal structures of the body, caused by congenital defects, developmental abnormalities, infection, trauma, tumours or disease.
It is essentially performed to improve the functions and surface, but may also be done to approximate symmetry of a normal appearance. Reconstructive surgery is generally covered by most health insurance policies, although level of coverage may vary greatly.
Plastic surgery is a very broad field, and may be subdivided further. Plastic surgery training includes mastery of the following as well:
Craniofacial surgery is divided into paediatric and adult craniofacial surgery. Paediatric craniofacial surgery mostly revolves around the treatment of congenital anomalies of the craniofacial skeleton and soft tissues, such as cleft lip and palate, cranio synostosis, and paediatric fractures. Because these children have multiple issues, the best approach to providing care to them is an interdisciplinary approach which also includes otolaryngologist’s speech therapists, occupational therapists and geneticists. Adult craniofacial surgery deals mostly with fractures and secondary surgeries (such as orbital reconstruction). Both sub-specialities usually require advanced training in craniofacial surgery. Maxillofacial surgeons also practice the craniofacial surgery field. This type of surgery is usually done in large public hospital related to a University
Hand surgery is concerned with acute injuries and chronic diseases of the hand and wrist, correction of congenital malformations of the upper extremities, and peripheral nerve problems (such as brachial plexus injuries or carpal tunnel syndrome). Hand surgery is an important part of training in plastic surgery, as well as microsurgery, which is necessary to replant an amputated extremity. Orthopaedic surgeons and general surgeons also practice the Hand surgery field.
Microsurgery is generally concerned with the reconstruction of missing tissues by transferring a piece of tissue to the reconstruction site and reconnecting blood vessels. Popular subspecialty areas are breast reconstruction, head and neck reconstruction, hand surgery/replantation, and brachial plexus surgery.
Burned people surgery generally takes place in two phases. Acute burn surgery is the treatment immediately after a burn. Reconstructive burn surgery takes place after the burn wounds have healed. Reconstructive surgery generally involves plastic surgery with functional goal more than high cosmetic goals.
Paediatric plastic surgery. Children often face medical issues unique from the experiences of an adult patient. Many birth defects and syndromes present at birth are best treated in childhood, and paediatric plastic surgeons specialize in treating these conditions in children. Conditions commonly treated by paediatric plastic surgeons include craniofacial anomalies cleft lips and palate and congenital hand deformities.
Aesthetic or cosmetic surgery is the subspecialty into plastic surgery dealing with the correction of form and aging. Plastic surgeons usually excel in this field because of their thorough knowledge of anatomy and extensive experience with reconstruction and congenital anomalies correction. Popular operations include amongst other breast augmentation, rhinoplasty, face-lift, liposuction and mastopexy. Many Cosmetic surgeons have a subspecialty inside aesthetic surgery. For example those who do hair transplant or penile enlargement rarely do anything else.
A long training...
Mister Philippe Raphael Chout is a well trained plastic surgeon in the first place like any good plastic surgeon who would have learned reconstructive in a variety of large public University Hospital during 5 years. He then became a senior registratr in maxillofacial reconstructive surgery a field that demand extraordinary precision and great attention to detail. Although he now focused on cosmetic surgery, he reckon that this past training gave him self confidence and the ability to face and repair any possible complication following aesthetic cosmetic surgery.
Practice make perfect...
But as practice make perfect, and because plastic surgery is such a broad disciplin, with thousands of techniques to learn and remember, one sooner or later must specialize and focus on a hand full of operations he is very good at. For example Mister Chout is very special at performing rhinopalsty, his Beauty Design operation, the profiloplasty ( rhinoplasty + mentoplasty) and the face lift, midfacelift, neck lift or brow lift. He is also special for revision facial surgery.
Psychology is the limit...
Not all patients are suitable for cosmetic surgery. Cosmetic surgery should be reserved ot emotionnally stable, financially secure availablea and observant patients. We have to select among the wannabe patients to make sure that they are generally suitable and psychologically able to enjoy the results and the usual inconvenience of surgery.
Risks and complications of plastic surgery...
Cosmetic surgery, like every surgery, carries risks related to anaesthesia or surgery itself. The detail of risks and possible complications involved is in the downloadable information forms section. One always should take at least a few months before deciding to undergo a cosmetic surgery procedure. Be sure to discuss the possible risks and complications with your plastic surgeon so you feel fully informed before surgery. Cosmetic surgery may not be suitable for everyone.
An independant Surgeon...
Mister Chout is a truly independent plastic Surgeon that is to say that he doesn’t work for any mass cosmetic company nor for a medical group or hospital , therefore he has no time or marketing pressure. He believes that it is generally better for patients to be directly in touch with the responsible person (the Surgeon) rather than with go-between or laypersons…

We do not routinely film our patients but we believe that nothing is as worthy as a video testimonial. Digital technology allows us to convey live results in a more detailed manner than any plain photography could ever do. Video being impossible to retouch, their credibility is much higher. All the video testimonials displayed on this website were filmed and displayed with the full signed authorisation of our clients who have been willing to share their experience.
